Choosing Your Path
Therapy (Clinical Support): For our Kansas and Missouri clients, we provide licensed clinical therapy to help you heal from divorce, trauma, or burnout. We look inward and backward to help you find peace and stability.
Coaching (Strategic Support): For clients locally and nationwide, coaching focuses on outward and forward movement. We provide the tools and strategy to help you "level up" your life, career, or co-parenting dynamic.
-
Personalized support for navigating stress, life transitions, relationship challenges, and emotional healing. Together we work to build insight, resilience, and meaningful change.
-
A supportive space where individuals can grow alongside others who share similar experiences. Group therapy fosters connection, perspective, and encouragement in the healing process.
-
For couples at a crossroads in their relationship. Discernment counseling helps partners slow down, gain clarity, and decide thoughtfully about the future of their relationship.
-
A trauma-informed framework designed to support families in restoring healthy connection, communication, and emotional safety within the family system.
Discernment Counseling
A Specialized Service for Couples at a Relationship Crossroads
The "Leaning-In" vs. "Leaning-Out" Dynamic: Most couples therapy assumes both partners are 100% committed to saving the marriage. Discernment Counseling is designed for when one partner is "leaning out" and the other is "leaning in."
A Path Toward Certainty: If you feel stuck in a state of limbo, this short-term, structured process helps you decide the future of your relationship with clarity and confidence.
-
Discernment counseling is designed for couples where:
One or both partners are considering divorce but aren’t completely certain.
You want to "slow down" the process to look at all options.
Traditional marriage counseling has felt like "too much, too soon."
You want to move forward with a sense of peace, knowing you explored every path.
-
Unlike traditional therapy, the goal of Discernment Counseling isn't to fix the relationship—it is to choose a direction. We work together to explore three distinct paths:
Path One: Keep things as they are (status quo).
Path Two: Move toward separation or divorce with clarity and dignity.
Path Three: A six-month commitment to an all-out effort in couple therapy (with divorce off the table during that time) to see if the relationship can be restored.
-
Time-Limited: Usually 1 to 5 sessions. You decide after each session if you want to return for one more.
Individual Focus: Most of the session time is spent in one-on-one conversations with me, allowing each partner to speak their truth without fear of immediate conflict.
Non-Judgmental: There is no "good guy" or "bad guy." We focus on understanding the story of your marriage and what it would take to change the current trajectory.
-
"Horao" means to see with understanding. In this process, we aim to give you the "eyes to see" your relationship honestly—honoring the history you’ve built while acknowledging the reality of your current pain.
